Christmas in a Box

The Found is a great company that used found imagery in their cards, journals, matchboxes and more. This year for Christmas, the Found has put out an adorable line of boxed sets of vintage Christmas cards!

Each set contains 8 cards and 8 red envelopes. Grab a pack of each, and really get a jump start on your Christmas card to-do list!

Parlez Vous Francais?

Oui! Oui! These French-inspired items are the objects of our affection.

We love these long, slender calendars! They use vintage French imagery, more particularly French dogs, fashion, and perfume advertisements.

These two images are found in the perfume calendar pictured above. They would be so easy to cut out and frame afterwards!

Practice your written French in one of these little journals. There are a couple different varities, and they're only $4.95!

Nous Vous Aimons! (That's "We love ya'll" in French)

For the OCD

Are you a planner? Do you still write down your schedule instead of programming it into your fancy-pants iPhone? You are in LUCK! We are starting to get in new 2012 planners and journals.

These Slingshot organizers come in either a pocket size and a larger journal size.

Each page of a Slingshot is hand drawn and different. Sometimes pretty pictures are the best motivation for getting yourself together!

Make no mistake about it, these bound composition books are colorful and alllllll American. They're only $5.95 a piece, too!

Do you need less structure when you plan? Maybe you even SKETCH (gasp)! These unlined journals are a gorgeous way to organize what you need to and float free the rest of the time.

We have some paper products that can put smart phones to shame.
Eat your heart out, technology!

Whata Throw Back!

These cards are bound to get your nostalgia goin'. The card brand "Laughing Elephant" has pulled some of the most adorable images and re-introduced them in this new line of cards at Rala.

Did I mention that they're only 3 bucks a piece? At that price, you can decorate your whole house or send 'em to friends all over the world!

The inside of this card is even a masterpiece!

The Laughing Elephant even embraces your inner cat lady. Usually, I don't look for support from a card, but I'll take it when I can get it!

Come on down to Rala, and let us help you think of all the amazing things to do with these beautiful cards! Meow!

The Best Kind of Dozen: 2012 Calendars

Do you know what the best part of the Holidays is? It's not the present-giving or the sweet-eating or even the after Christmas shopping.
It's the fact that you can get a new calendar!!!! Check out these 2012 calendars:

Nikki McClure cuts paper to make her stamp-size pieces. Every year she puts together a wall calendar, and boy, do they have a following now! These calendars double as pieces of art, so give one to a friend or grab one for yourself, and show how smart you are. You're so smart!

This lovely calendar is chalk full of tiny, precious images to describe every day of your year. Every month is a totally different theme. What picture will your birthday fall on?

Oh, and by the way, this is MY birthday, so feel free to bring me presents and cake!

Happy almost Holidays and almost new calendars. Save yourself the heartbreak, and grab 'em while we still got 'em!

Ladies Lost in Time

Have you been seeing these around town? It's probably because local artist Cynthia Markert has been making art in and around Knoxville for over 30 years! Give a looksie to this new work by Cynthia:

These two stunning portraits are 8" x 8", but still carry as much mystery and grace as a 2' x 3' !

Floral patterns along with gold and black stripes are some of the striking motifs Cynthia employs. Red is also a color she uses in different amounts to create drama.

Cynthia Markert will be Rala's First Friday artist in December so be sure to keep an eye out for brand new work and fantastic Christmas gifts (for you, of course)!

First Friday with Brian Pittman

Brian Pittman has been a long time member and supporter of the arts in Knoxville. So, it must be obvious that we're ecstatic about having him as our November First Friday artist!

Come by Friday night from 6pm to 9pm and meet Brian. He'll even be making art like this live!

We're also pleased to announce that a series of cathedral prints will be available for pre sale on Friday as well. Come on down and reserve your print before it's too late!

If you can't make it, no worries! We will have Brian's work up all month.

Happy First Friday!
